But sometimes it's important to indulge the darker recesses of the mind, so with that out of the way, please meet Grace Lightman, a new artist from London whose first song, 'Vapour Trails', is one of the most bittersweet ballads you're likely to hear this month. Formerly of psych outfit, The Hypnotic Eye, Grace has cut loose to create the sort of melancholy pop we adore hearing from the likes of Alice Boman. 'Vapour Trails' is low-key, for sure, but the truthfulness in Lightman's delivery means we're utterly rapt from the very start, her crystalline whispers carried aloft on sweeping piano and a spartan rattle of snare.
